François Huchet

François Huchet lives and works in the countryside of the Blayais, north of Bordeaux.
Born in Marcillac into a millers family, he remained there until his military service in Germany where he was assigned to the photo laboratory to develop films and make prints. After the army he went to Paris to become a photographer. He entered a studio in the 14th arrondissement where he was trained in shooting architecture and decoration. He also learned magazine catalogs and advertising studio work.
The desire to move, the taste for traveling with light equipment (24x36) leads him to reporting. He began with a foray into cinema as a still photographer, then a six-month trip to Africa for a humanitarian foundation.
This period definitively sealed his attraction for solitary photographic testimony, reporting.
Alongside his professional commissions, he takes pictures of his immediate universe and the world around him. Rurality, cities, long crossings, deserts, long journeys, photographs taken from the road. And then he also follows in the footsteps of the great photographers, looking for the places and people they photographed.
All this work gave rise to exhibitions and books.
François Huchet's silver work is processed by himself in his own laboratory. The prints measuring approximately 30x45 are made on baryta paper. Visits to the workshop/laboratory are possible. Make an appointment.
